Livestock Bowl

Date:  May 18, 2011

Registration Deadline:  May 4, 2011

Location:  Extension Office

Time:  6 p.m.

Eligibility: Grades 3-12

Team or Individual: Individual competition only.

Description: Participants answer questions about sheep, beef and swine in a quiz bowl format.   Questions will come from the Ohio State University reference manuals for sheep, beef and swine (available from the 4-H office).

Guidelines:  We will follow state guidelines for this event with the following exceptions: 

  1. Youth will compete individually rather than in teams.
  2. Bonus questions will go to the individual youth who just correctly answered the toss-up question that goes with the Bonus Question.  The individual will earn the points if answered correctly.

 Awards:  Each youth earns a blue, red or white ribbon or certificate based on the Danish judging system:

·          Blue (excellent): $3 clover bucks

·         Red (good ): $2 clover bucks

·         White (fair): 

Next Steps:   The four highest scoring youth in 9th-12th grades (plus one alternate) will make up the team that represents Weber County in State competition in July.
